VOLLEYBALL PLAYER #2
Hi, I’m Abdul Rasheed, but most people know me as Ashik. My volleyball journey began in 12th standard when a friend invited me to the ground for a casual game. That day changed everything for me. Since I was naturally tall, many encouraged me to pursue volleyball seriously, and I started improving step by step through regular practice.
In my hometown, Vallam in Tenkasi district, I joined Bathru Sports Club. The seniors there helped me understand the basics, corrected my mistakes, and taught me discipline on and off the court. Their support helped me balance school studies and practice, which built my confidence as a player.
After finishing school, I joined Einstein College of Arts and Science in Tirunelveli because of its strong volleyball program. I worked hard on fitness, timing, and blocking techniques since I was selected as a blocker for the college team. My efforts paid off when I represented my college in the interzone tournament and later played in the South Zone matches. I was proud to be selected for the All India University Volleyball Championship and receive the Form-3 certificate under MS University.
To gain better training, I transferred to St. Jerome’s College of Arts and Science in Nagercoil. Under coach Mr. Alson, I trained more systematically, improving my game sense, court awareness, and discipline. His guidance helped me perform strongly again in the All India University tournament and earn another Form-3 certificate. This period helped me mature as a player and taught me how to handle pressure.
In 2024, I joined Noorul Islam Centre For Higher Education (NICHE), Kumaracoil. The competition there was tougher, and it pushed me to perform at my best. I once again got selected for the All India University Championship and received my third Form-3 certificate. Playing tournaments across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh gave me valuable experience against top players.During one of these tournaments, Abinaya Global Business Hub noticed my performance and offered me a chance to play and work with them. I accepted the offer, and this opportunity allowed me to grow both professionally and athletically.
